Before I ever became the Executive Director of the Erik Jones Foundation, I was just a racing fan who believed in what the sport stands for — teamwork, grit, and resilience. That belief grew stronger when I met Erik and his family back when they were still running local tracks across Michigan. I got to know his dad, Dave — and I saw something special in Erik, even then. Not just talent. Character.
That’s why I believe in Erik. I even left a comfortable career at the University of Michigan to take on this role — because when you believe in someone’s mission, you don’t just cheer from the sidelines. You join the team.
No one questions Erik’s ability behind the wheel. Heck, just a few weeks ago at Darlington Raceway, he nearly won the Southern 500 for the third time – one of the most respected wins in the series because the driver makes all the difference at “The Track Too Though To Tame.” And if you’ve ever met him, you know he’s one of the most grounded, kind-hearted people you’ll ever come across. But what sets him apart — what makes him the kind of person you want to stand behind — is what he values. And who he races for.
I’ll never forget his win at Darlington in the No. 43 — one of the most iconic cars in NASCAR history. When he was asked what kind of redemption that win felt like, he didn’t make it about himself. He simply said: “It feels good to bring this team to victory lane.” That win would become the last time the No. 43 reached victory lane while it was still owned, at least in part, by Richard Petty — the man who made that number legendary. Erik understood what it meant, and he carried that legacy with humility and pride.

That’s who Erik is. And that’s what this foundation is all about.
We recently launched Fueling Our Mission — a monthly and annual giving campaign designed to sustain this work and expand our reach. And just like Erik relies on the crew behind the wall to win races, this campaign is built on the belief that it takes all of us to make a lasting difference.
To make your support go even further, we’ve secured a challenge gift from a generous donor that will match any gift under $1,500 — up to a total of $15,000. We have made some progress, but we still have a way to go! The campaign is already underway, and you can learn more and join us here:

Help us receive the full $15,000 pledged by an anonymous donor!
Just like Erik can’t win without his crew, this mission can’t move forward without people like you. If you believe in Erik — not just the driver, but the person — I hope you’ll consider joining this effort.
Thanks for reading — and for believing in what we’re building together. The race has already started, and we need you on the team.
Together, we can keep fueling the mission.
